Hair conditioners are all over the market so why are there so many different types of conditioners if they are all the same thing? What do I need from my hair conditioner? We are hoping to be able to answer these questions for you to help you better find the hair conditioner that works best for the look you want to pull off. The type of products that you use will be determined on what you are doing to your hair to style it. For example if you are trying a look that requires a curling iron you may need a different conditioner that helps with the heat applied from the curling iron.

There are many different types of hair conditioner lets see what are the six major categories of hair conditioner there are. These should be able to assist you in making a good informed decision on what type of hair conditioner is best for you. First there are moisturizers; these are basically there to hold in the moister the hair already has. Then we have the reconstructors; what these do is reconstruct the hair follicles so that they are healthier and have a more natural shine to them. There are also acidifiers; these are products with a pH balance of 203 to 3.5. What this is used for is to is to create shiny and bouncy hair. Next we have some that have detanglers in them; what this does is as the name suggests helps to detangle the hair. Depending on the strength of the detangler formula in the conditioner it may take anywhere from one to five minutes to be effective. Next we should look at thermal protectors; what these do is protects the hair against heat damage. For those people that use curling irons, blow dryers, or hot curlers this will help distribute the heat throughout the hair so that the hair is protected against heat damage. The next thing on our list is glossers; what this does is helps with frizzy hair and when used in small amounts this reflects light giving a shine to your hair. Finally we are going to look at oils; naturally your hair creates oil called sebum, these resemble that natural oil. These oils will take dry hair and make it soft and pliable.

Depending on your hair type, texture, and what you are using to style your hair will determine what type of hair conditioner you will want to use. As an individual you may want to look at a formula that will combine a couple of these types of hair conditioners to maintain or repair your hair. Never let what someone else use on their hair determine what is best for your hair. You are the one that knows your hair best and therefore are the best person to determine what you and your hair needs on a daily basis. When trying out new styles the hair care products that you choose may change keep that in mind when you go for a new look and your hair doesn’t seem the same.
