DHT is related to hair loss. Does DHT relate to your hair loss? Through this article we are hoping to be able to give you more information so that you can determine id this is the reason for your hair loss. First we will explain exactly what DHT is and how it relates to hair loss. Next we will look into what if anything can be done to control it and remedies people have found.

DHT or if you want the scientific name Dihydrotestosterone, is basically testosterone that is converted to DHT with the help of the enzyme 5-alpha-reductase. In plain English the male hormone and this enzyme create DHT. So why do people loose their hair with DHT? What DHT does is basically shrinks the hair follicle so mall that the hair falls out and there is no room for another hair to replace it. So if it is related to a male hormone does that mean women don’t have to deal with this? Women do have problems with DHT as well as men even though women do not produce as much testosterone as men they still produce the hormone. Some women produce more of the hormone than other women. However, since men do produce more testosterone than women they tend to see more hair loss due to DHT. The 5- alpha reductase is genetically determined therefore it is not easy to change. DHT is linked to male pattern baldness, however, as we discovered earlier it can affect women too. In women that may create to much testosterone please consult your doctor they may have a hormone therapy that may help balance your hormones.

There are many ways to help with DHT. You can reduce the hair loss and use different stimulants to help grow back the hair that you have lost with DHT. There are many natural substances that can block the 5-alph reductase. When you block the 5-alpha reductase it can’t stimulate the DHT causing the reduction of the amount of hair you will lose. These natural products can help prevent a good amount of DHT. Once you have been able to stop the DHT you can then look at the possibility of growth stimulators to be able to regrow the hair you have already lost. The best way to minimize the amount of hair you lose is to see a doctor if your hair starts to thin. If you are experiencing hair loss you should consult your doctor and let them determine what the cause of the hair loss is. Treating hair loss without knowing the cause is virtually useless. There are several reasons for hair loss you can read about these in our hair loss articles.

DHT does not have to mean baldness if you take the proper steps to prevent and stop the spread of DHT. Also remember that not all remedies are for both men and women. To find the best course of action to take, talk to your doctor about all the possibilities of resolving this issue in your personal life.
