Most hairstyles will look and hold much better when curls are involved. Curling the hair is a great solution for creating a hairstyle for any special event, so it follows that having naturally curly hair is great for setting hair up in hairstyles such as the classic updo. Curly hair, when styled or just set down casually, can provide body and movement to the hair. And with a bit of length, curly hair can be great for a wide variety of updos.

There are several tools you can use to style your hair in an updo: your handy fingers, a heated iron, hot rollers, or a diffuser. It all really depends on the type of hairstyle you want. You may also opt to simply visit a salon and have a professional stylist work on your hair. This way, you will only have to sit down and relax while the work is being done. It doesn’t matter which way you go about getting the hair done, what matters is the style and how it works for you.

Curly hair has always looked more exotic and wild compared to straight hair. Having natural curls or even “man made” curls will always add more punch and personality to an otherwise blah hairstyle.

Hair updos for curly hair are almost limitless the only thing that can stop you from achieving your desired style is your imagination.

The classic casual updo for curly hair may be achieved through the use of a variety of headbands that are put in place to hold the curls against your scalp. You can also opt to use pins instead of the headband to create a more formal look. To create definition in your curls, divide your hair into equal sections and dry your hair using a diffuser.  Learn to work with your naturally curly hair, or if you have wavy hair, you can recreate the look by using a curly iron.

Another variation for the curly hair updo is the French twist. The classic French twist can be modified to work with your curly hair. Style your hair in such a way that the twist allows your curly hair to flow loosely from the crown. You can use your fingers to define the curls at the top of the twist.

You can also choose to wear your curly hair in a style that features sculpted curls for more formal occasions. A curling iron or medium sized hot rollers can be used to create the big curls needed for such a look. Once the hairstyle and curls are in place, use a bit of product such as hair spray to keep the hair in place
