Alecia Moore was born September 8, 1979 and earned her nickname as a child. By the time she was a teenager, she was a regular on the Philadelphia club scene, first just dancing and then singing back up for a hip-hop group. Alecia was fourteen when she began writing songs, which she was allowed to sing on stage every Friday night. She tried her hand with two different groups, but those projects failed before they really got a chance to get started.
Pink, as she was now professionally known, released her debut album in 2000. “Can’t Take Me Home” did well on the charts and contained three top ten singles. She toured as the opening act for N*Sync, but did not want to become associated with the sweet, teen oriented music that the boy band produced. She sang on the collaborative effort, “Lady Marmalade” just before the release of her second album.
Get the Party Started” was one of her biggest hits and dominated the Top Five. The full album, “Missundazstood” went double platinum. Album number three, “Try This” was released in November of 2003 and earned Pink a Grammy for Best Female Rock Vocal Performance. “I’m Not Dead” was released in 2006 and went straight to the Top Ten. Pink married Motocross racer, Carey Hart.
Pink has appeared with blonde hair, cut in a short pixy which is very attractive, but her usual look is pink. She has worn her pink hair longer, shorter, spiked or slicked straight back, but always, no matter the style, pink.
