Penelope Cruz

Penelope was born April 28, 1974. The Spanish beauty studied both ballet and jazz from a young age before getting her first acting job in 1992. Her debut Spanish movies did well, one of them winning nine Goya awards and one Oscar for Best Foreign films. Five years later, another Spanish film, “Abre los Ojos” (Open Your Eyes), premiered at the Sundance Film Festival.

In 1998, Penelope appeared in her first English speaking film, “The Hi-Lo Country” followed by “Twice Upon Yesterday” that same year. The next year found her returning to Spanish film with a movie that would have its premiere at Cannes.  In 2000, Penelope would again appear in an American film, this time, “All the Pretty Horses”.

Penelope began a string of American made films in 2001 beginning with “Blow”. “Captain Corelli’s Mandolin” which co-starred Nicolas Cage was a box office disappointment for the dark haired Cruz. “Vanilla Sky” the English remake of Abre Los Ojos, starred Tom Cruise, who Penelope would begin dating after his marriage to Nicole Kidman was officially over. Tom and Penelope would continue dating for awhile, but would eventually break up. “Volver” in 2006 would mark the first time that Penelope was nominated for an Oscar for Best Actress.

Penelope Cruz has the lush deep black hair of her heritage. It is thick, long and shines with great health. It is these qualities that have earned her the endorsement campaign for L’Oreal’s Vive Pro shampoo and conditioner.
