Natalie Wood

Natalie was born July 20 ,1938 and seemed destined for stardom from the crib. She was enrolled in dancing lessons as a toddler and made her first film appearance in 1943 as an extra in “Happyland”.  Within four years she was earning $1000 a week.  That year, 1947, she had a major role in “Miracle on 34th Street”.

Unlike many other child stars, Natalie made the transition to more mature roles without a problem, and she starred in “Rebel Without a Cause” as James Dean’s girlfriend in 1955. While filming major motion pictures, Natalie was also a regular on the sitcom, “Pride of the Family”.  The film “Splendor in the Grass” came along in 1961, as did “West Side Story”. Natalie worked steadily throughout her career, and although she was nominated three times, never won an Oscar. She married Robert Wagner twice, once briefly when she was very young and then again in 1971. They were still married at the time of her death at the age of 43. Natalie was in the middle of filming her last movie when she fell over the side of a yacht and drowned off of Catalina Island in 1981.

Natalie kept her brown hair in a variation of the hairstyle that she sported as a child, sides pulled back and pinned in the middle of the back of her head. It was just past her neckline, and very thick and curly.
