Marilyn Monroe

She could have been called a bubble head, a sex kitten or just another troubled actress, but whatever she was then, she is now and forever more will be, an icon. Born Norma Jean Mortenson, but baptized with the last name, Baker, Marilyn would charm and giggle her way onto to the silver screen and into the hearts of millions.

Born June 1, 1926, Marilyn graced the pages of magazines and smiled at her fans from movie screens before her tragic death in 1962. Scandal and rumor would surround the sirens mysterious death, and the legends continue to this day.

Marilyn made her big screen debut in 1953 with the movie, How to Marry a Millionaire. Two years later she returned with a solid performance in Bus Stop. Perhaps one of her best loved films was Some Like it Hot in 1959, but The Seven Year Itch would probably be a close second on that particular list.  Monroe often toured with the USO, entertaining the troops with her breathy voice and come hither stare.

Marilyn was married three times in her life, to Jimmy Dougherty, Joe DiMaggio and Arthur Miller. Her last film was the adaptation of Miller’s The Misfits. Marilyn’s lovely face still graces products ranging from watches to blankets and many a Hollywood starlet has stepped into her foot prints and made a wish.

Marilyn was the epitome of the blonde bombshell with platinum locks that fell in waves and ringlets to just above her shoulders.
