Kim Basinger

Born December 8, 1953, pretty blonde Kim was enrolled in dance classes when she was young in hopes of helping her overcome shyness. Soon dancing and singing led to beauty contests, she won the title of Junior Miss Georgia. That win led her to the national competition in New York where she was noticed by representatives of Ford Modeling Agency and offered a contract. Kim put her good looks to work for her and was soon earning $1000 a day in print and other media ads. After being named the Breck shampoo girl, Kim studied acting and picked up singing gigs when she could.

Kim’s first starring role came in 1978 when she played the lead in a made for TV movie, “Katie: Portrait of a Centerfold.” Other roles quickly followed, but none as big as the 1983 film, “Never Say Never Again”. That role opened up doors for Kim which would include roles in “The Natural” 9 ½ Weeks”, “Batman” “Fool For Love” and “Nadine”. In 1991, Kim would appear in “The Marrying Man” with Alex Baldwin who she would eventually marry. Basinger went three years without work, but had a child with Baldwin during that hiatus.

Trouble came for  Kim when she backed out of her contract for the movie “Boxing Helena”. The producers sued her and won, but lost their case on appeal. The legal costs were astonishing, and Kim would end up having to file for bankruptcy. In 1997, her career took an upswing,  however and she won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her role in “L.A.Confidential” Other films followed but did not do well either with critics or audiences.

Kim has  long, pale blonde hair with a middle part, but has occasionally worn a style with bangs. She looks best when her hair is left to fall in casual waves . Spikey, severe styles make her face seem too angular.
