Born July 25, 1955, Iman is more than just a beautiful face, far more. Her father, the diplomat spurred an interest in politics and she even studied political science in Nairobi. Then in 1979, Iman broke color barriers as the first African woman, and even first African-American to appear on the cover of Vogue magazine. Further, she became the first to sign a cosmetics contract.
Iman spread out into film work with her break through role in “Out of Africa”. Countless cameos and appearances came throughout her career including the Michael Jackson video “Remember the Time”.
In 1992, Iman married David Bowie, the couple welcomed their first child together in 2000. Iman became more than a supermodel and one half of a super couple when she launched her own cosmetics line in 1994. Those products, designed for women of color did so well that she expanded the line for everybody in 2000. Sadly, that company has recently stopped business.
Iman is very involved in charities including: Mothers Voices, Action Versus Hunger, The Children’s Defense Fund and All Children’s Fund.
The statuesque beauty has always appeared flawless from head to toe, and her hair is no exception. In her early days, her hair was jet black, but recent photos have shown a golden blonde overwash that brings light and vitality to her beautiful face.
