Charisma Carpenter

Born July 23, 1970 in Las Vegas, young Charisma despised her first name from the start. It has not hampered her career and she has apparently come to an uneasy truce with it; the name remains unchanged as of yet. Young Charisma was destined to perform, training in classical ballet by the time she was five years old. When her family moved to Mexico in 1985, the then fifteen year old girl took an hour long commute to San Diego to attend the School of Performing Arts.

As soon as she was able to do so, Charisma moved to San Diego to pursue her career fulltime and worked odd jobs while waiting for her big break to come in. Along with working as a video store clerk, she also became a cheerleader for the Chargers. The time spent with the Chargers was meant to earn her the money to further her education, by now she had changed her dreams- now she wanted to become an English teacher.

Acting however, was in Charisma’s blood and she spent 18 months at the Playhouse West perfecting her acting skills. In ‘95, she had a guest appearance on the wildly popular Baywatch, followed by a guest starring role opposite Keri Russel in Malibu Shores. That show did not last very long and soon Charisma was back doing the rounds of auditions. Her agent sent her to two auditions for the same show, for both the lead and for the antagonist of said lead. Charisma did not get the lead role, but proved extremely popular as the ultimate snob Cordelia Chase in the teen dramedy Buffy the Vampire Slayer. When that hit show finally ended, Charisma was asked to bring Cordelia to the spin off, Angel.

In 2004, Charisma had a recurring role in the NBC series, Miss Match which starred Alicia Silverstone as a matchmaker.

Charisma has dark chocolate hair that falls down the middle of her back. Honey gold highlights play against the light and pick up the colors in her eyes. Her best style is casual, allowing her hair to play up her features rather than to overwhelm them.
