| Avril Lavigne
Avril was born in Napanee, Ontario
on September 27, 1984. As a young girl, Avril sang in church
choirs and local fairs and at 17 released her debut single.
That first album spun out four high charting singles and
was the best selling by a female artist.
In May of 2004, Avril debuted at number
one in ten different countries with the album, “Under
My Skin”. That album went platinum in one month. Two
years later a very busy Avril appeared in one movie, “Fast
Food Nation” and provided her voice for another, “Over
the Hedge”. That same year she married Deryck Whibley
in July.
The following year, Avril released the
album “The Best Damn Thing” whose monster hit,
“Girlfriend” blared from nearly every radio
in the world at one point or another. Unfortunately, despite
all of the success with the single and the album itself,
it was not all easy for Avril. A ‘70’s
band, the Rubinoos, sued the young songstress for infringement
saying that the song was merely a reworking of their song.
Avril has always been edgy, but lately
her look has softened some. She keeps her hair long, even
during her most radical punk days. That long hair has been
nearly every color imaginable, but the most recent color
is a caramel brown which suits her petite face far better
than the jet black of her early days.
