| Ashanti
Ashanti was born October 12,
1980. The beautiful woman trained first as a dancer with
the Bernice Johnson Cultural Arts Center, and performed
in a number of big name dance videos. But, Ashanti had her
eye on music and acting as well as dancing, and her 2002
debut album did well, selling over 500,000 copies in the
first week and featured the hit single “Foolish”.
She performed several duets, including the number one hit
“Always on Time” with Ja Rule. Her duet with
“What’s Luv” with Fat Joe also did well,
vying for that same number one spot in the same year.
She began her acting career with a role
in Malcolm X, but has continued to work hard on her musical
talents in the meantime, releasing “Chapter II”
in 2003. That album produced a hit single with “Rock
Wit U (Aww Baby)”. Ashanti released “Concrete
Rose” in 2004.
Ashanti is often seen rocking long, wavy
extensions, but has on occasion sported a shorter, choppier
style that plays up her perfectly shaped features. Her hair
color of choice is most often a midnight black, but there
are photos of her with some lighter colors playing through
her mane.
