Almost everyone looks to their favorite celebrities
for hints or insight on the latest trends be it in fashion, accessories,
and even hair. Celebrities come out with new hair
colors and hair styles at almost every event they attend; our
favorite celebrities almost always sport the hippest and most fashionable
looks.
Although not everyone can afford the same salon treatments that celebrities
are used to, we can still get that celebrity type of hair color.
The best thing to do is keep your hair
healthy and get your hair done by a professional instead of
coloring your hair by yourself.
Hair stylists often use several techniques similar to those used by celebrity hair stylists when it comes to coloring hair:
- The traditional or basic highlighting technique involves using foil placed together around the entire head, including under the hair. This may be used for any type of hair color and is also often used when applying lowlights.
- Replicating the sun-kissed look. This look is suitable for natural blondes
and brunettes; this usually involves trying to replicate the way
sun exposure naturally lightens one's hair. This type of hair
coloring technique usually requires a minimal amount of maintenance.
- Another technique involes using high contrasts of color and shades that do not naturally blend well together. This type of highlighting technique, when used, generally takes a bit of maintenance as the roots may start to show after a few weeks.
- A more unique technique involves using contrasting colors placed in one or several sections of hair. The effect of this technique is usually ever severe and extreme and is sure to turn heads.
Two or more techniques may be used together to get the desired effect you want. The color and manner of application is typically based on your skin tone and the type of cut you have. You may have a certain color in mind; however, try to listen to what the stylist has in mind for you as they generally know hair color and coloring techniques better than anyone else.
