Standing Straight Into Fashion: Mohawk Hairstyles

Mohawk Hairstyles
One of the trends that is always moving into updates is the Mohawk hairstyle.  This specific look is known to carry cultures for thousands of years, with the first influences coming from historical trends from both Native Americans and mummies.  The popularity of this style began to flare again in the 1980s, with those in the punk movement finding this specific look as a defining point to their personalized style.

The Mohawk hairstyles that are available to those interested in this specific and defined look begins with a series of spikes that are placed on top of the head.  Usually, a gel or cream is used to lengthen the hair and to move it into a straight spike in the middle of the scalp.  The sides and back are usually shaved or cut to a shorter length or are used to make the center area of the hair longer.  This is then redefined by specific varieties that are a part of this look.

If you are considering options for Mohawk hairstyles, then you will want to look at the shape and style you want first.  You can have both short and long hair spikes, with the alteration being in the shape and length of the center spike.  Many also use this to redefine the specific shape of the spike.  For instance, a classic spike will have more hair in the middle and typically include long hair that moves all the way from the forehead and to the back of the head.  If you want a more subtle approach, then the Faux Hawk may work better, which is shorter and takes more of the center space of the head.

If you want to make a statement that stands straight out from others, then considering Mohawk hairstyles may be the best alternative.  This specific look provides you with a different approach to your hair, while allowing you to take part in an ancient trend that has grown into a statement for those that are involved in different subcultures.
