Basics of 1900’s Hairstyles



In the decade of transformation for men and women were a set of hairstyles that began to create a series of modern trends. This was related to luxury and natural looks that allowed both men and women to have the best creation of looks for any occasion. The different 1900′s hairstyles that were used allowed for the vintage looks to move into new ways to form the hair and the culture that were surrounding it.

The trends that were popular in the 1900s most commonly represented glamor and luxury for both men and women. Women would take the time to shape their hair with both up dos and lowered hair to frame their face in a more refined manner. It was common to have the hair in loose curls around the head with a flat top to have a complete sense of control. Because hats were often worn by women during this time, having the definition in the lower areas of the hair was considered as a main staple for hair.

For men, the hairstyles were also refined with very specific looks for luxury. Popular styles for men included hair that was often combed back or parted at the sides and which was either straight or that had lose curls. During this time, it was popular for men to have a full-grown beard and mustache with side burns to compliment the features. The specific trend was one that made a statement of business and work that brought in a sense of wealth.

The decade of the 1900s was one that defined transition that was in the culture, which ultimately led to concepts of wealth and luxury. For both men and women, the definition that was added into the hair also included a specific refinement that was used with the hair. The statements that were made from these were then able to create a culture around the ideas that were represented in the culture at the time.
