Baldness and hair loss are very common problems among men. Causes for hair loss vary and range from genetics to lifestyle and diet. A lot of people are looking at different drugs and medical treatments to treat hair loss and facilitate hair growth. Majority of people who are losing hair use some of the most common hair loss treatments such as Minoxidil and Propecia; however, there are alternatives to these medical treatments. These alternatives come in the form of natural treatments for hair loss.

There are no sure fire ways to prevent hair loss; however, there are a number of methods that have been said to work on a few individuals. Here are a few suggestions and natural supplements you can try to use in treating baldness or hair loss: scalp massage, aromatherapy, natural supplements, saw palmetto extracts, nettle root extracts, rosemary, sage, jojoba oil, aloe vera, henna, polysorbate-80, cleansing, detoxification, psyllium husks and exercise.

Scalp message for a few minutes every day simulates blood flow. Arometherapy, specifically the use of some specific essential oils, also simulates the scalp. Natural supplements such as Saw palmetto extract is an effective anti androgen and shows a lot of promise for the prevention of hair loss. Another natural supplement, nettle root extract, is rich in Vitamin A and C as well as other minerals that may benefit the hair. This extract has been successfully used to inhibit 5-alpha reductase.

Rosemary and Sage, two herbs mostly used in cooking, have been shown to be promising hair loss treatments when used externally. A good way to use these herbs is to boil them together with peach leaf, nettle and burdock and use the water to wash the hair. Jojobal oil has been used to promote the growth of hair and control dandruff for several years. People who are prone to seborrhea, psoriasis, or eczema are recommended to use jojoba oil. Aloe vera has been used by many groups of people in different parts of the world to promote the growth of healthy hair and prevent hair loss. Aloe vera aids in balancing the ph levels of the scalp, cleans its pores and helps heal it. Henna, a traditional Indian herb, can be used as a natural conditioner and is good for use in maintaining healthy hair. Henna helps heal the hair by repairing the shaft and sealing the cuticle, thereby protecting it from breakage.

Other natural supplements that can aid in the treatment of hair loss are folic acid, biotin, Vitamin B5, para-aminobenzoic acid or PABA, and silica. These vitamins aid in the maintenance of the hairs thickness and color.

Cleansing your body also helps in maintaining and growing healthy hair as many scalp related diseases result from toxemia. Doing regular exercise also helps since it improves the circulation of blood and ensures the delivery of oxygen to all cells of the body. Generally, a healthy lifestyle and a well balanced and nutritious diet helps in the prevention and treatment of baldness. Consulting your physician before applying any change to your diet and supplemental intake is also highly recommended.
